ASU Presents University’s Development Programme for 10 years to Commission of RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education

Astrakhan State University is participating in Priority 2030, the biggest competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia aimed at supporting universities, and today the university has presented their programme in Moscow.

The application of Astrakhan State University was prepared in close cooperation with the regional government and with the support of Governor Igor Babushkin, who officially approved the participation of ASU in this unique project. The head of the Astrakhan governor’s administration Pavel Pautov took part in the presentation of the university’s programme to the commission.

Rector Konstantin Markelov delivered the presentation outlining the concept for the development of Astrakhan State University for the period up to 2030. As part of his presentation, he told the experts about unique ideas that are part of the project plan.

According to the rector, the project will contribute to improving scientific schools, promoting new technologies, conducting efficient research, creating expert centers in the specified areas, developing the digital environment, training professional HR and increasing the transport and economic potential of the region.

Konstantin Markelov emphasized that receiving a grant as a financial subsidy is not a primary task for Astrakhan State University.

“Our goal is more ambitious: to transform ASU into a flagship university in the region, the opportunity to acquire a new status and reach a different level. We propose a project of a Caspian Open Network University — a university that is open for development of new ideas and technologies, is ready to customize scientific developments for the needs of business structures and become a comfortable environment for students and young researchers,” explains the rector.
