МIEF-2021: Konstantin Markelov Urges Universities to Organize Networking Partnership

Moscow International Education Fair continues its work. On the second day of the major event the rector of Astrakhan State University took part in the discussion on international cooperation of the geostrategic Russian regions.

Within the framework of MIEF business program a round-table conference “Scientific and Educational Cooperation – Energy of the Present and the Future for the Development of the Black Sea Region” took place. The president of Southern Federal University Marina Borovskaya was the moderator of the conference.

Konstantin Markelov made a speech at the event and told his colleagues about ASU’s experience in cooperation with partner universities.

“The topic we are discussing today is quite burning. First of all, a huge and important competition “Priority-2030” has finished. While participating in the competition the universities of the country have completely reshaped their development strategies. Secondly, the meeting with Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the ASU’s longtime partner, is soon taking place” – the rector said.

The main discussion questions included:

  • the current state of the international cooperation in education and science in the Black Sea region;
  • development of the human resources potential, academic and scientific mobility in conditions of pandemic to provide successful interaction in the region;
  • development of joint training programs in the field of energetics of the future.

Taking into consideration the topic of the event Konstantin Markelov pointed out the similarity of the Caspian and the Black Sea regions and highlighted that the development potential of the international cooperation in science and education has been partially implemented.

“This year during forum “Caspian 2021: Ways of Sustainable Development” there was signed an agreement to unite Russian universities according to the scientific and educational issues in the Black Sea region. And now we need to consolidate the efforts to make everyone understand how important this cooperation is”, – Konstantin Markelov noted.

The meeting of the universities – members of the Association for the promotion of multilateral cooperation in the sphere of science and education in the Black Sea region, which was created in May, is taking part soon.

The rector of Astrakhan State University also expressed his opinion about cooperation in the field of scientific researches saying that it is an important part of the international partnership. Thus, in the Caspian region successfully functions Association of State Universities and Research Centers of the Caspian Sea Region Countries with ASU being its participant and coordinator.  

At the end of his speech, Konstantin Markelov proposed to unify the universities – participants of the “Priority 2030” program into a consortium, which will allow to find common ground between the universities and scientific teams.
