Konstantin Markelov: ‘The ASU Project Will Help Minimize Risks and Threats to the Security of the Greater Caspian Region’

Today, a videoconference meeting of the Council of Rectors of the Universities of the Southern Federal District and the North Caucasus Federal District was held by the Southern Federal University. Colleagues discussed topical issues of higher education and the implementation of the Priority 2030 programme.

The Council’s agenda included the issue of the Three Missions of the University rankings ecosystem, considered the best practices for implementing the strategic development of universities that have become participants of the Priority 2030 programme, and the scientific community networking.

At the meeting, the ASU rector noted that university scientists are already actively cooperating with a number of universities in Southern Russia and with countries interested in the development of the Caspian macroregion.

Representatives of ASU submitted a proposal to the Council of Rectors of the Universities of the Southern Federal District and the North Caucasus Federal District to appoint Astrakhan State University as the coordinator of the Caspian studies.

At the end of his speech, Konstantin Markelov invited his colleagues to continue discussing the raised issues on the sidelines of the international scientific forum “Caspian Region 2022: Sustainable Development Trajectories” which will be held this May at Astrakhan State University.
