ASU Students Will Learn How to Model Logistics Operations and Business Processes in a New Laboratory

Astrakhan State University has opened the Smart Logistic Laboratory, a new point of growth for the academic environment, as part of the Priority 2030 project. The equipment of the scientific and educational laboratory will allow the university to train highly skilled professionals and address a lot of scientific and commercial tasks.

The new laboratory is equipped with interactive whiteboards to demonstrate the possibilities of connecting various remote devices and 16 high-performance computers with the latest version of AnyLogic software. Aleksey Rybakov, the Director of the Institute of Physics and Mathematics and Head of the strategic project Digital Platform of the North-South Transport Corridor, says this allows to model various logistics operations, increase computational performance many-fold, and create programs.

The program allows to simulate traffic flows and regulate the congestion of highways, airports, subways, road intersections, shopping centers and many other infrastructure facilities.

The new laboratory will also allow to consolidate the best educational resources and train highly skilled professionals. For this purpose, it is planned to open a networking master’s program in digital logistics together with Volgograd State University in 2023.

Rector Konstantin Markelov emphasized that such a modern program would help Astrakhan State University build additional ways of interaction with many of its partners and address a large number of tasks related to the distribution of flows and optimization of various business systems.
